Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister has sparked fresh controversy, this time by liking an Instagram post that directly attacks Portugal national team star Bruno Fernandes.
Ronaldo shares a highly close relationship with his sister, Katia, to the extent that the Portuguese icon has often been accused of using her as a mouthpiece to channel his frustration toward teammates and his former clubs.
Ronaldo recently faced intense criticism following a lackluster performance in Portugal’s 1-1 draw against the DR Congo. However, his sister firmly believes the issue lies with the rest of the Seleção squad, rather than the 41-year-old forward.
The Harsh Critique of Bruno Fernandes
The Instagram post liked by Katia stated: “Bruno Fernandes is a completely different player when he wears the national team shirt.”
It continued: “At a time when the Portuguese team desperately needs a leader, he vanishes during the match, leaving the responsibility and the burden entirely on others.”
The post further questioned: “He is a massive talent and receives immense media attention, but where is his decisiveness in the big moments?”
It concluded: “Fans expect an exceptional player who steps up and saves the team when the pressure mounts, not someone who fades away and disappears when the match becomes intense and demanding.”
Defending Ronaldo, Blaming the Midfield
This comes shortly after Ronaldo’s sister published her own post fiercely defending her brother against post-match criticism. Blaming the rest of the Portuguese lineup, she wrote: “Suddenly they forgot how to pass the ball, how to intercept it, and how to execute counter-attacks… The midfield collapsed inexplicably.”
