Journalist Ahmed Shobeir dropped a bombshell, revealing that Hossam Hassan is seriously considering including one of Zamalek’s stars in the Egyptian national team’s squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The player in question is Nasser Maher, who expressed his outrage at being left out of the squad during the last international break, claiming that Hossam Hassan is targeting him for non-sporting reasons.
Everyone thought that the door to the national team was completely closed to the Zamalek star after these statements, but Hossam Hassan is still considering including Maher in the Pharaohs’ squad despite everything that has happened.
According to Shobeir, Nasser Maher is on the preliminary list for the AFCON, which will be reduced to 23 players in the coming period.
The coach highly values Nasser Maher and believes he can make a valuable contribution, so the option of including him in the final squad is very much on the table.
Nasser Maher will lead Zamalek in their final match before Egyptian football clubs enter the break for the Arab Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations, when the White Knights face Kaizer Chiefs on Friday in the CAF Confederation Cup.
It is worth noting that the Africa Cup of Nations kicks off on December 21st, and the draw placed Egypt in Group B with South Africa, Angola, and Zimbabwe.
