While Vinicius Junior has been linked with a move to Manchester City this summer, the English club is reportedly interested in another Real Madrid star after manager Pep Guardiola expressed his admiration for the player’s abilities.
The player in question is Arda Güler, who has secured a regular starting place in Xabi Alonso’s lineup this season and has become one of Real Madrid’s key attacking players.
According to Spanish media reports, Güler is Guardiola’s top target should he remain at City next season.
The Spanish manager’s strong desire to sign Güler has prompted Manchester City’s management to allocate a substantial budget for this purpose. It is said they are prepared to pay €100 million to convince Real Madrid to part with the 19-year-old.
Guardiola believes Güler’s exceptional quality lies in his ability to dictate the tempo of the game and penetrate opposing defenses, a quality City desperately need, especially after Kevin De Bruyne’s departure from the Emirates Stadium.
Despite City’s strong interest and the huge sum allocated to sign Guler, it remains unlikely that Real Madrid’s management will allow the Turkish player to leave, as he is seen as the future of the Santiago Bernabeu and has become an untouchable asset for Florentino Perez’s administration.
