EFA Makes Final Decision on Dunga’s Participation in the Super Cup

After considerable controversy in the last few hours, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) made its final decision regarding Nabil Emad Dunga’s participation with Zamalek in the 2025 Egyptian Super Cup, scheduled to be held in Abu Dhabi.

Dunga was suspended for four matches (in the Super Cup only) after participating in last year’s edition, also in Abu Dhabi. However, Zamalek has not received any official communication from the former EFA informing them of this sanction.

Zamalek sent a letter to the EFA inquiring about Dunga’s participation in the competition. The player has already obtained a visa to travel to the UAE and is now part of coach Yannick Ferreira’s plans.

According to Egyptian media reports, the EFA ultimately decided to implement the previous sanction and will send an official letter to Zamalek informing them of this.

Thus, Dunga will be unable to participate in the Super Cup, which Zamalek will begin its campaign against Pyramids on November 6.

Hussein Labib’s administration is not expected to let the matter go unnoticed, as Zamalek will once again attempt to assert the illegality of the new letter from the Egyptian Football Association and deny the allegations made by former EFA board member Ehab El-Komy regarding correspondence sent last year.

El-Komy claimed that the EFA sent a letter dated October 31, 2024, with the decision to suspend Nabil Emad for four matches for unsportsmanlike conduct during the Super Cup competition only.
