Because of Mohamed El-Sayed, Zamalek fans demand Ferreira’s dismissal

Zamalek fans in the stands at Al-Salam Stadium during the match against Dekedaha launched a campaign of hostile chants against Mohamed El-Sayed due to the player’s refusal to renew his contract with the Whites over the past few months.

Mohamed El-Sayed’s contract expires at the end of this season, and despite repeated attempts by the club’s management to renew his contract over the course of nearly a year, all attempts have failed. It is reported that Al-Ahly will be interested in signing the young player for free next summer.

Mohamed El-Sayed started the match between Zamalek and Dekedaha, and the fans continued to chant against him and demand that coach Yannick Ferreira remove him from the match from the first half.

Zamalek was awarded a penalty kick in the second half. Strangely, Ferreira, instead of responding to the fans’ demands, withdrew the penalty from Hossam Abdel-Maguid and awarded it to Mohamed El-Sayed, who missed, prompting increased chants and boos against him.

Ferreira’s actions did not go unnoticed. Fans began to attack the Belgian coach with fury, demanding his dismissal, not only for his defiance and support of Mohamed El-Sayed, but also for his extremely poor performance.

Sporting director John Edward also received some of the fans’ attacks, especially given his commitment to Ferreira and his refusal to dismiss him under any circumstances.

Zamalek defeated Dekedaha 1-0, advancing to the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup with a 7-0 aggregate score.
