The Telegraph reported that Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is considering sacking manager Ange Postecoglou less than two months after appointing him as the successor to Nuno Santo.
The Australian coach has failed to win a single game in all competitions with Nottingham Forest, and it has become clear that his attacking style of play does not match the capabilities of the English club, which has built a defensive-minded squad based on Santo’s ideas.
Although Marinakis has repeatedly expressed his support for Postecoglou, there is considerable concern within the Nottingham Forest management that the former Tottenham manager is the right choice to ensure a successful season. The club also has no intention of allowing the team to enter the relegation battle after last season’s remarkable season.
It remains unknown whether the board will give Postecoglou a final chance to correct the situation after the international break, or whether his dismissal will come within hours, as Marinakis has yet to make a decision on the matter.
According to The Telegraph, Nottingham Forest officials are leaning toward appointing Sean Dyche, the former Burnley and Everton manager, as their preferred manager, considering his defensive approach and ideas would be suitable for the next stage.
Dyche welcomes this nomination and would be willing to take over, but at the moment, it remains just an idea, albeit one that is closer to implementation given the poor results and pessimistic expectations surrounding Postecoglou.
Dyche was not Nottingham’s first choice, but Fulham manager and goalkeeper Marco Silva. However, a possible exit from Craven Cottage for the Portuguese is unlikely, so the City Ground team has turned to the second, more realistic option with more experience in the Premier League.
