Mundo Deportivo reported that Dani Olmo will be out for a long time with Barcelona due to the recent injury he sustained while with the Spanish national team during the current international break.
The Spanish Football Federation announced on Friday evening that Olmo had returned to Barcelona after leaving training with Luis de la Fuente’s squad after just 15 minutes, suffering from muscle fatigue and persistent pain.
According to the Catalan newspaper, Olmo’s injury occurred in his left calf muscle, a sensitive area that typically requires a minimum of three weeks of absence, but could extend to a month if a rupture, even a minor one, is confirmed.
With this, it is almost certain that Olmo will not be able to participate in El Clásico against Real Madrid, scheduled for October 26 at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, further complicating Barcelona’s problems, which are already facing a large number of injury-related absences.
Barcelona officials are furious at the way the Spanish national team treated Olmo. The player informed De la Fuente of his muscle strain before training, yet the coach insisted on including him, which later exacerbated the injury and led to his expected long absence from the field.
Barcelona officials hoped Olmo would be treated in the same way De la Fuente treated Real Madrid star Dean Huysen, who was excluded immediately upon complaining.
It’s worth noting that Barcelona lost Yamal for most of last month due to an injury to Lamine Yamal, also with the national team. It was reported that the player suffered pain during the match against Turkey, and instead of being taken off, the medical staff injected him with painkillers to complete the match, which exacerbated the injury and prolonged his absence.
