Meeting between John Edward and Ferreira to decide Zamalek coach’s fate

Egyptian press reports indicate that Zamalek’s sporting director, John Edward, has not yet made a final decision regarding coach Yannick Ferreira’s future at the White Castle.

Zamalek lost the derby match against Al Ahly 2-1, and criticism of the coach has mounted due to his late substitutions and overly defensive style of play.

Demands have increased in recent hours to dismiss Ferreira and bring in another coach, noting that the Belgian’s contract still extends until the end of the current season.

According to Egyptian media, John Edward will hold a meeting with Ferreira to discuss the reasons for the recent decline in performance and results before making a final decision on whether to dismiss the coach or renew his confidence in him.

Some sources indicate that the most likely scenario is for Ferreira to continue as Zamalek’s coach until the upcoming match against Ghazl El Mahalla, after which the experience will be evaluated during the next international break.

Ferreira is one of the lowest-paid foreign coaches in Egyptian football, earning only $30,000 per month. If he is dismissed, he receives a penalty clause worth two months’ salary.

The 45-year-old Ferreira has won five matches with Zamalek, drawn twice, and lost twice.
