AS newspaper reported that Real Madrid’s signing of Stuttgart star Angelo Stiller has become highly unlikely.
The club, at the behest of coach Xabi Alonso, is looking to sign a new midfielder to replace Luka Modric.
Stiller has been the top candidate, especially after Toni Kroos’ recommendation, and some reports even suggested an agreement between Real Madrid and the German star.
However, recent reports confirm that the Spanish club has backed away from the idea of signing Stiller , preferring another player.
This player is Martin Zubimendi, who is believed to have accepted Arsenal’s offer and will soon sign a contract with the Gunners.
AS indicates that Zubimendi has not yet completed the agreement with Arsenal, as rumored, and Real Madrid still has a chance to secure his services.
Although negotiations between him and Arsenal were advanced, Real Madrid’s entry in recent days has turned things upside down, making him prefer to wait before giving the Gunners the final say in the hope of moving to the Santiago Bernabéu.
The 25-year-old Zubimendi remains coach Xabi Alonso’s preferred option, which increases his chances of signing him.
It should be noted that Zubimendi can only move to any club for €58 million, the value of his release clause with Real Sociedad.
