According to Sport, the club’s position aligns with the player’s wishes, despite a challenging spell on the pitch and a reduced role under German head coach Hansi Flick.

The report states that Gavi has no intention of considering offers to leave, either in January or next summer. He remains determined to reclaim his place at Barcelona rather than seek playing time elsewhere.

The midfielder is concerned about his limited minutes, particularly now that he has put his injury problems behind him and is in good physical condition. Fierce competition within the squad, however, has kept him from securing the role he had hoped for.

Sport attributes his limited involvement solely to footballing decisions. Flick currently considers some of his teammates ahead of him in the pecking order, although Gavi remains part of the coach’s plans for both the present and the future.

Clubs outside Spain have contacted the player’s camp to enquire about his situation, but those approaches have not changed his stance. Gavi is also aware that a continued lack of game time could affect his chances with the Spanish national team.

His contract runs until 30 June 2030, following an extension signed in January 2025. He joined Barcelona’s La Masia academy from Real Betis in 2015 and made his first-team debut in August 2021.

Having previously endured a lengthy absence with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee before returning in October 2024, Gavi is now embracing another challenge at the same club: playing regularly again and convincing Flick to give him a bigger role.
