Zamalek star, after being excluded from the national team: Hossam Hassan is unfair

Zamalek star Nasser Maher was visibly upset after the Egyptian national team squad for the November international break was announced, and his name was not included.

Maher has been delivering outstanding performances for Zamalek recently, culminating in two goals in their 3-1 victory over Tala’ea El-Gaish last week.

Despite his impressive form, Egypt’s national team coach, Hossam Hassan, decided to exclude him from the Pharaohs’ upcoming camp. The player believes this decision stems not from technical reasons, but from personal disagreements with the coach.

In response to his exclusion, Maher wrote on his Instagram account: “I’m sorry to be posting this; it’s not like me at all, but honestly, the situation is very frustrating for me because of the Egyptian national team squad.”

He added, “Honestly, I believe I deserve to at least be included in the squad, especially since it’s clear this isn’t about my performance at all. All the critics, analysts, journalists, and Egyptian fans, even ordinary people, have been speaking very highly of my recent performances.”

He concluded, “Honestly, what happened was a huge injustice, and it has nothing to do with football. All the effort I put in just goes to waste, and my dreams are vanished so easily, as if it were nothing, even though I did everything I could. It’s truly unfair; it would break even a mountain.”

Hossam Hassan had called up Mohamed Ismail from Zamalek for the first time and recalled Ahmed Fatouh after his recent impressive performances, joining the trio of Mohamed Shehata, Mohamed Sobhi, and Hossam Abdel-Maguid.

Nasser Maher appeared with the Egyptian national team during Hossam Hassan’s tenure last year and performed well in the away match against Guinea-Bissau, but he hasn’t been called up since.
