Zamalek has finalized an agreement with a young European coach and announced the termination of coach Ayman El Ramadi and his technical staff, paving the way for a new era at the club.
El Ramadi took over as coach of the White Castle midway through last season, succeeding José Peseiro. He successfully led Zamalek to the Egypt Cup title after defeating Pyramids FC on penalties in the final.
After the end of the season, Zamalek embarked on a major internal revolution, which led to the appointment of John Edward as sporting director. His first decision was to thank Ayman El Ramadi and his staff.
According to Egyptian media, Zamalek signed Belgian coach Yannick Ferreira to coach the team on a two-year contract.
Ferreira will receive a salary of $50,000 per month and will be assisted by four foreign coaches, with only one Egyptian member of the technical staff, Hazem Emam (the younger one).
Is it true that Paulo Bento will take over as coach of Zamalek?
The agreement between Zamalek and Ferreira stipulates that the contract will be automatically extended next summer if the young coach succeeds in leading the team to several local titles. Otherwise, the club will part ways without having to pay the penalty clause.
Ferreira, 44, has extensive experience in Arab football, having previously worked in Saudi Arabia for many years.
Ferreira began his career as an assistant coach to Michel Preud’homme at Al-Shabab. He then coached several Belgian clubs, most notably Standard Liege, with whom he won the Belgian Cup. His most successful experience was with Al-Fateh from 2019 to 2022. He also coached Al-Riyadh Club during the 2023-2024 season for only six matches.
