Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland has officially scored his first-ever FIFA World Cup goals during Norway’s 2026 group stage clash against Iraq.
After Norway failed to qualify for the Qatar 2022 edition, Haaland successfully carried his nation to their first World Cup appearance since 1998. The prolific striker needed just 29 minutes on the pitch to leave his mark on football’s biggest stage.
A First-Half Brace for the City Striker
Haaland opened his World Cup account by converting a precise cross from full-back David Møller Wolfe, slotting the ball into the net with a brilliant one-touch finish past Iraqi goalkeeper Jalal Hassan.
In the 43rd minute, the 25-year-old capitalised on a costly blunder by Jalal Hassan to score his second goal of the night, restoring the lead for the Scandinavian side before halftime.
It is worth noting that Haaland is already Norway’s all-time leading goalscorer, boasting an astonishing record of 57 goals in just 51 international appearances across all competitions.
