Renowned English sports commentator Richard Keys claims that Pep Guardiola’s dismissal from Manchester City is closer than ever.
The English club lost to Manchester United in the derby on Saturday evening by a score of 2-0, continuing their disappointing run of results this season.
In recent weeks, it has been reported that Guardiola is planning to leave Manchester City at the end of this season and not complete his contract, which runs until the summer of 2027.
According to Keys, Guardiola’s dismissal from Manchester City this week is highly likely, and the club will not wait until next summer to terminate his contract. This would be the first time the legendary Spanish coach has been sacked.
In this case, former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca would be the new Manchester City manager, and he is likely to take charge of the team starting with the upcoming match against Wolverhampton Wanderers next Saturday.
English media outlets had indicated that Maresca was already in talks to coach Manchester City upon Guardiola’s departure, but according to Keys, his arrival at the Etihad Stadium could come much sooner than next season.
It’s worth noting that Manchester City struggled last season, finishing without any trophies, and this season they currently sit second in the Premier League, six points behind Arsenal.
