Why was the Liverpool vs Everton match postponed?

Premier League fans were surprised on Saturday morning by the postponement of the anticipated match between Liverpool and Everton in round 15, known as the “Merseyside Derby”.

According to an official statement from Everton, the reason for postponing the match is bad weather.

The statement read: “Following a meeting of an advisory group at Goodison Park, consisting of officials from both clubs, as well as representatives from Merseyside Police and Liverpool City Council, and based on the risk to safety in the surrounding area due to strong winds accompanied by dust and raising the yellow alert level until 6 am tomorrow, it was decided to postpone today’s match.”

The new date for the match scheduled to be held at Goodison Park has not been determined, but it is expected to be in January.

Liverpool is at the top of the Premier League standings with 35 points, while Everton is in 15th place with only 14 points.

Perhaps the postponement of the match is good news for Liverpool to get some rest after playing four fiery matches in less than two weeks, as they faced Real Madrid, Man Utd, Southampton, Real Madrid, Manchester City and Newcastle, and now they are preparing to visit Girona next Tuesday.
