The newspaper “Sport” revealed the alternative plan being considered by UEFA and CONMEBOL to hold the Finalissima between Spain and Argentina if it cannot be held in Qatar.
Qatari authorities suspended all football matches in the country following the US-Israeli attack on Iran and the subsequent reactions across the Gulf region.
Initially, it is still possible that the match will take place as scheduled on March 27 at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar, but the current situation has forced officials to look for alternatives.
London has been identified as the most likely option to host the Finalissima if Qatar is unable to host the match.
The British capital is considered the most logical choice from a logistical standpoint, given that most of the international players are based in Europe, and because it successfully hosted the inaugural edition, which Argentina won against Italy.
Another option is to hold the match in Miami, USA, but this would face significant opposition from European clubs due to the long travel distances players would have to cover during a very congested season.
The organizers are currently racing against time through a thorough analysis process to select the most suitable venue, although holding the match in Qatar has not been definitively ruled out.
