Real Madrid failed to secure a victory against Rayo, settling for a disappointing goalless draw in a match where Vinicius played the full 90 minutes.
After Alonso substituted Eduardo Camavinga in the 73rd minute, cameras caught Vinicius muttering, “Looks like we don’t want to win today.”
It was clear the Brazilian international preferred a more attacking player over the French international, but his behavior also highlights the strained relationship between him and Alonso.
Vinicius had previously apologized to Real Madrid’s players, management, and fans in an official statement for his actions during the Clasico when he was substituted, but he did not mention Alonso by name. Meanwhile, the coach downplayed the incident, insisting that everything was fine between them.
Vinicius then played in three matches and was not substituted, which some media outlets interpreted as Alonso succumbing to pressure, and it was said that this caused him to lose the respect of many players.
Sky Sports reported that Real Madrid’s management is now ready to negotiate Vinicius’s departure next summer, especially since his deteriorating relationship with Alonso is completely hindering any attempts to reach an agreement on renewing his contract.
It is said that Real Madrid would be willing to sell Vinicius if they receive an offer of €150 million, and it is most likely that this will come from Saudi Arabian clubs, with Manchester City also showing interest, though without making any concrete moves.
