A new chapter in Vinicius Junior’s troubles has unfolded, this time not because of coach Xabi Alonso, but because of Real Madrid fans at the Santiago Bernabéu.
The Royal Club secured a 2-0 victory against Sevilla on Saturday, and during the match, Madrid fans booed Vinicius due to his underwhelming performance.
The boos intensified when Alonso substituted Vinicius in the 83rd minute. Instead of receiving a standing ovation, the Merengues supporters expressed their anger at the Brazilian international and his performance against Sevilla, with only a few applauding the 24-year-old.
Vinicius quickly responded to the fans’ actions by removing the words “Real Madrid” from his Instagram bio and deleting the photo of himself in the Los Blancos shirt from his account.
According to the newspaper AS, Real Madrid’s management supports Vinicius despite everything, and believes his actions were a logical reaction to the fans’ abuse at the Bernabéu.
Pérez’s administration will continue to back Vinicius, whose contract expires in the summer of 2027, unless he commits any further transgressions against the fans, management, teammates, or coach. This is especially true given that Florentino Pérez is aware of the immense pressure on the player since his well-known clash with Alonso last October.
It’s worth noting that Vinicius has failed to score for Real Madrid in his last 16 appearances across all competitions, unlike Kylian Mbappé, who finished 2025 with 59 goals for Los Blancos.
