Union Berlin found a satirical way to process a heavy defeat against Bayern Munich, lightheartedly holding Lamine Yamal responsible for fueling Harry Kane and Michael Olise ahead of the match.
With the capital club trailing by seven goals at the Allianz Arena, the administrator of the club’s official X (formerly Twitter) account decided to look for a culprit far removed from the pitch.
In the 77th minute, Union posted: “Couldn’t that 19-year-old kid from Barcelona just stay quiet? Kane and Olise are on fire today, proving they deserve to be in the Ballon d’Or conversation.”
The club did not stop there. Following the final whistle, Union posted again asking jokingly to keep the tweet away from Barcelona, adding that they were in no mood to face “angry Catalans” after such a grueling match.
The post referenced recent comments made by Yamal, who downplayed total goal counts as the decisive metric for the Ballon d’Or, asserting that the award should honor the player who brings the most joy to spectators and stands clearly above the rest.
The timing of the Barcelona star’s remarks proved unfortunate for Union; Kane and Olise delivered their response on the pitch, leaving the Berlin side to pay the full price.
Jamal Musiala opened the scoring before Kane netted twice and Olise registered a hat-trick alongside an assist. Ismael Saibari added another to seal a resounding 7–0 victory for Vincent Kompany’s side.
The evening featured a historic milestone for Kane, who became the fastest player in Bundesliga history to reach 100 goals—achieving the mark in just 98 appearances—before adding his 101st, while Olise earned Man of the Match honors.
