The Daily Mail reported that Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has emerged as a potential option to bolster Liverpool’s attack during the current summer transfer window.
Rashford has been informed that he is not in the plans of coach Ruben Amorim for next season, and his number 10 shirt has been stripped and given to new signing Matheus Cunha, with United willing to sell him for as little as £40 million.
According to the latest report, Rashford is on coach Arne Slot’s list of options to bolster the left wing position. The Englishman also has the advantage of being able to play as a striker, making this dynamic beneficial for the Reds’ roster.
However, Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak remains Liverpool’s top target, and negotiations are underway with the Magpies to complete a deal for more than €150 million, making him the most expensive signing in Premier League history.
If the Swedish international’s signing fails, Liverpool may turn to signing Rashford, although it seems extremely difficult for two reasons: The first is that the player himself would prefer to move to Barcelona and dreams of such a move. The second is that there have been no official transactions between the Reds and Manchester United since 1964.
The last official deal between the two clubs was when Phil Chisnall moved from Manchester United to Liverpool. In 2007, Sir Alex Ferguson refused to sell Gabriel Heinze to the Reds, forcing him to move to Real Madrid due to the poor relationship between the two rivals.
