Spanish media reports indicate that official contact has taken place between Real Madrid and Liverpool officials regarding a potential transfer of Dominik Szoboszlai to the Spanish giants this summer.
Real Madrid is looking to bolster its midfield in hopes of filling the void left by Toni Kroos’ retirement and Luka Modric’s departure, and signing Szoboszlai has become Florentino Perez’s top priority.
In recent days, Real Madrid has been exploring Szoboszlai’s interest in joining the Bernabeu. Initial contact was made between Perez’s management and the player’s agent, and these initial discussions are said to have been very positive.
Following this, Real Madrid initiated contact with Liverpool, especially given the exceptionally strong relationship between the two clubs, to negotiate the sale of the Hungarian international, whose contract at Anfield runs until the summer of 2028.
This news comes directly after comments by Marco Rossi, the Hungarian national team coach, stating that Szoboszlai has dreamed of wearing the Real Madrid jersey since childhood, reflecting the player’s initial agreement to the idea of joining Los Blancos.
The 25-year-old further fueled the rumors when he commented on a picture of Trent Alexander-Arnold celebrating his starting role in Real Madrid’s 4-1 victory over Real Sociedad on Saturday, writing, “That’s my boy.”
It’s worth noting that English media outlets have indicated that Liverpool’s management is working on renewing Szoboszlai’s contract in the meantime. However, the situation between the two parties is relatively complex, and Liverpool’s final league position this season will significantly influence their summer transfer activity.
