Despite his important role for Barcelona last season, the Catalan club’s management has become open to the option of selling Marc Casado in the coming period, due to the need for money to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.
Casado was one of Barça’s most frequent players last season until he suffered an injury in April. Blaugrana officials appreciate everything he has contributed, but the general feeling is that he will not have many opportunities next season.
According to AS, Casado is now up for sale, particularly after the player lost the confidence of coach Hansi Flick following the return of youngster Marc Bernal and the recovery of Frenkie de Jong. It has thus become difficult, if not impossible, for him to gain minutes, whether as a starter or even as a substitute.
Casado realizes that things are no longer the same, and so he, too, is open to the idea of leaving if he receives a good offer. His priority remains to continue with Barcelona and fight to regain Flick’s trust.
Barcelona has initially set a price of €30 million for Casado. However, the club is willing to negotiate, whether for a permanent sale or a loan with an option to buy, as this would provide a margin to help secure new signings this summer.
The 21-year-old Casado was the focus of attention from Saudi clubs at the start of the transfer window, and this interest may be renewed with reports that Barcelona has no objection to his departure.
Last season, Casado made 41 appearances for Barcelona and received his first call-up to the Spanish national team, earning two caps.
