Barcelona has yet to finalize the transfer of Hamza Abdelkarim, amidst widespread rumors that Al Ahly is the reason for the delay. However, the newspaper “Sport” indicates that the problem lies within the Catalan club itself.
The dispute between Al Ahly and Hamza Abdelkarim stemmed from a three-year contract extension before his loan move to Barça. It was reported that the player and his father insisted on a one-year extension only.
“Sport” stated that the agreement between Barcelona and Al Ahly remains in place, and the Egyptian club is simply waiting for Barcelona to activate the contract. However, Joan Laporta’s administration is currently unable to do so due to Financial Fair Play regulations.
Barcelona has been unable to implement the 1-for-1 rule, either for the first team or the reserves. Therefore, the Barça management must first offload a player currently on the roster before they can sign Hamza Abdelkarim.
Barcelona has already put several players up for sale, hoping this will resolve the transfer crisis in the coming period by freeing up wages that would allow the club not only to register the Egyptian star but also to sign another striker, as originally planned.
As has been the case with Barcelona in recent years, the crisis is expected to be resolved in the final hours of the transfer window, meaning Abdelkarim will have to wait until the end of the month in the hope of finalizing the deal.
