According to Spanish newspaper Marca, the 2027 Spanish Super Cup (Supercopa de España) will not be held in Saudi Arabia. This exceptional relocation is due to a scheduling conflict with the Kingdom’s hosting of the 2027 AFC Asian Cup, scheduled to take place from January 7 to February 5.
Although Saudi Arabia holds the hosting rights under a recently extended long-term partnership with the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), the continental Asian calendar has forced this temporary shift. The Kingdom is preparing for a highly busy sports calendar, hosting two major regional and continental tournaments within a six-month window: the Arabian Gulf Cup (Gulf 26) followed directly by the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.
Egypt Bids to Host the Spanish Super Cup for the First Time
The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has officially submitted a bid to host the Spanish Super Cup for the first time in history. Egyptian authorities have emphasized the country’s readiness to host the prestigious event, pointing to its world-class sports infrastructure, modern stadiums, and the massive fan base for Spanish football in the region.
The RFEF is currently evaluating the proposals at its headquarters in Las Rozas. Alongside Egypt, several highly competitive alternative bids have been submitted, including official proposals from Qatar, the United States, China, and Mexico.
