The Portuguese newspaper Record reports that Jose Mourinho’s chances of returning to coach Real Madrid are increasing, and he could potentially end up at the Santiago Bernabeu next season.
The Real Madrid board has decided to dismiss Alvaro Arbeloa at the end of the current season after his failure to win any titles, and discussions are currently underway to determine his successor.
According to the latest report, Mourinho has not yet received an offer from Real Madrid, but things are expected to move forward in the coming period, given President Florentino Perez’s firm belief that “The Special One” is capable of leading Los Blancos back to winning ways.
Perez and his entourage believe that Real Madrid needs a coach with a strong personality who can command the dressing room from the outset, and in this regard, there is no one better suited than Mourinho at the moment.
The Portuguese newspaper indicates that a face-to-face meeting between Pérez and Mourinho is expected in the coming days in Madrid to discuss his potential appointment as Real Madrid’s new coach.
Ultimately, the biggest obstacle to Mourinho’s appointment is Vinicius Junior, following the Portuguese coach’s comments regarding the Brazilian’s provocations that led to the infamous incident with Gianluca Brestiani.
It’s worth noting that Mourinho previously managed Real Madrid from 2010 to 2013, and according to sources close to him, he welcomes the prospect of returning to the Spanish capital, especially since he is likely to leave Benfica at the end of the current season.
