Liverpool manager Arne Slot believes Mohamed Salah must show a reaction on the pitch after the Reds’ last three losses in all competitions, amidst the criticism he has received for both his poor form and his lack of defensive play.
Liverpool have lost to Crystal Palace and Chelsea in the Premier League, and between them, suffered their first European defeat in Turkey against Galatasaray. Salah has failed to score or assist in any of the three matches.
Liverpool are preparing for an upcoming clash with Manchester United, the club Salah has scored against the most times. When Slot was asked about the Egyptian King, he replied, “If you lose three consecutive matches wearing a Liverpool shirt, it doesn’t matter who your next opponent is.”
He added, “In the last three matches, we’ve had to come back from a goal down. We did it twice, but we still lost. There must always be a reaction, not just from Salah, but from all the players.”
In response to Salah’s lack of defensive work, he concluded, “I heard Marc Cucurella’s comments and also saw how they scored the winning goal, but I can also show you 5-6 moments when Salah could have made the difference for us.”
Since the start of the season, Salah has scored three goals and provided three assists in 10 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions. He will enter the United match in high spirits after scoring twice for Egypt in Djibouti, leading the Pharaohs to the 2026 World Cup.
