Press reports indicate that FIFA has decided to cancel The Best award (the world’s best player award) and replace it with a new awards format.
This decision is reportedly aimed at radically modernizing the football awards system and adapting it to the demands of the modern era.
According to the same source, The Best award will be replaced by a new, modern international awards ceremony. The new project is planned in collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council, which was previously the main partner and organizer of the Globe Soccer Awards.
With this new format, FIFA aims to expand the geographical reach of the ceremony, engage football fans across different continents, and enhance its international standing. It also aims to offer a fairer version, with clearer criteria for determining the best, compared to the Ballon d’Or, the world’s most prestigious award.
The Globe Soccer Awards are expected to become FIFA’s new awards in the future.
It is worth noting that the “Best” award was established in 2016 after the end of the partnership between FIFA and France Football magazine in the Ballon d’Or award.
