The European Football Association announced the ideal formation for the 2023-2024 Champions League, amid expected dominance from the competition’s champion, Real Madrid.
There were 4 players from Real Madrid in the formation: Vinicius Junior, Jude Bellingham, Dani Carvajal and Antonio Rudiger.
Perhaps the biggest surprise in the lineup was the absence of the competition’s top scorer, Kylian Mbappe, as UEFA preferred the presence of Harry Kane (also the competition’s other top scorer) instead of the French star.
Some may believe that Andriy Lunin was unfair not to be present despite his brilliance and that he was the reason for Real Madrid to reach the final, but UEFA preferred the brilliant Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel.
Below we review together the ideal formation for the Champions League 2023-2024 with UEFA’s choices:
Goalkeeper: Gregor Kobel (Borussia Dortmund)
Defense line: Dani Carvajal (Real Madrid) – Antonio Rudiger (Real Madrid) – Mats Hummels (Borussia Dortmund) – Ian Mattsen (Borussia Dortmund)
Midfield: Vitina (Paris Saint-Germain) – Marcel Sabitzer (Borussia Dortmund) – Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid)
Attacking line: Phil Foden (Manchester City) – Harry Kane (Bayern Munich) – Vinicius Junior (Real Madrid)
