Real Madrid confirmed in an official statement that Kylian Mbappé will not undergo knee surgery and will instead receive conservative treatment to alleviate his pain.
Mbappé has been absent from the Royal Club for the past week after experiencing a recurrence of knee pain, amidst speculation that he might require surgery that could end his season.
Meanwhile, it was reported that Mbappé lacked confidence in Real Madrid’s medical staff and therefore consulted with French doctors without the club’s knowledge to determine the best course of treatment.
Real Madrid dispelled all these rumors, announcing that Mbappé will not undergo surgery and confirming that the consultation with the French doctors was conducted in conjunction with the club’s medical team.
Real Madrid’s statement on Monday evening read: “Following medical examinations carried out on our player Kylian Mbappé by French medical specialists, under the supervision of Real Madrid’s medical services, the diagnosis of a sprain in his left knee has been confirmed.”
The statement added, “In addition to the suitability of the conservative treatment he is currently receiving, his condition will be monitored.”
It is worth noting that Mbappe will most likely be out for two more weeks, and Real Madrid hopes to have their player back before the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Manchester City, scheduled for March 17.
