Amid growing calls to end Ruben Amorim’s journey with Manchester United, club owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has come out and affirmed his absolute support for the Portuguese coach, emphasizing that he will remain in his position for at least the next three years until his contract at Old Trafford expires.
United suffered their worst start to a Premier League season in 33 years, and it was reported that the club’s management had already begun searching for a new manager. However, results improved somewhat before the international break, after which Ratcliffe spoke about the matter for the first time.
The English billionaire said, “It’s true that he hasn’t had his best season. Ruben needs to prove his worth as a manager over the next three years. That’s what I would do.”
He added, “Sometimes I don’t understand the press. They want overnight success. With the push of a button, things will be fine tomorrow. The management of a club like Manchester United cannot act on the emotional reactions of a journalist who attacks them weekly.”
It’s worth noting that Manchester United is currently ranked tenth in the Premier League with 10 points after the first seven matches. Despite the poor start, everything remains in the hands of Amorim and his teammates, given that the current league leader is Arsenal, with only 16 points.
