Pogba after his Monaco debut: I triumphed over the devil

Paul Pogba expressed his joy at returning to football after playing a few minutes in Monaco’s match against Stade Rennais on Saturday in Ligue 1.

The French star had been sidelined for two years after testing positive for doping. He joined Monaco last summer after serving his ban and underwent a period of preparation before finally making his debut after four months.

Pogba’s first appearance for Monaco was not a positive one, as the principality’s team suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat. However, the 32-year-old remains happy because he “fought the devil” and successfully revived his career.

Speaking to the French media after the match, Pogba said, “I worked and waited for more than two years to achieve this return. Despite everything that happened and the stories written about me outside of football, I suffered the most. I was looking forward to it.”

He added, “There are moments when the devil tries to tell you it’s all over. But there is a merciful God, and I believe in myself. I believe in my character and my qualities. I didn’t do anything wrong; it wasn’t my fault, and that’s why I held on to hope.”

Pogba emphasized at the end of his remarks that his football career is not over and that he will do his utmost to extend it for as long as possible.

The former Juventus star attracted attention after the match when he recorded a thank you to God immediately after the final whistle, expressing his gratitude to God Almighty for giving him the opportunity to play again after everything he endured in his career over the past two years.
