Mauricio Pochettino is on the verge of signing a four-year contract extension with the United States Men’s National Team (USMNT). Negotiations between the Argentine manager and U.S. Soccer have reached their final stages, securing his position through the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
Pochettino’s original contract expired following the conclusion of the 2026 World Cup. Despite a 4-1 loss to Belgium in the Round of 16, U.S. Soccer decided to maintain continuity, expressing strong appreciation for the tactical growth and progression demonstrated by the squad throughout the tournament.
Historic Performance at the 2026 World Cup
The 54-year-old manager led the U.S. to top their group with six points, featuring a 4-1 victory over Paraguay, a 2-0 win against Australia, and a narrow 3-2 defeat to Turkey. The team then defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina 2-0 in the knockout stage, marking the USMNT’s first World Cup knockout round victory since 2002.
