Paris Saint-Germain dashes Barcelona’s dreams again

AS newspaper reported that Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, dreams of Luis Enrique being the new coach of the Catalan club next season.

The Barcelona administration is still searching for Xavi Hernandez’s successor in coaching the Blaugrana, and many names have been put forward, including Hansi Flick and Roberto De Zerbe.

According to the Spanish newspaper, Deco’s preferred candidate is Luis Enrique, and on the part of President Joan Laporta, he does not mind hiring the Spanish coach and sees him as a distinguished option as well.

However, contracting with Enrique remains close to impossible due to his contract with Paris Saint-Germain until the summer of 2025, with Barcelona not having the ability to pay compensation to the French club to accept his departure.

At the same time, given the not-so-good relations between Barcelona and Paris, it is not expected that Nasser Al-Khelaifi’s administration will agree to negotiate the coach, or give him up for a low price under any circumstances.

Here Barcelona’s alternative plan appears, which is to contract with one of the available German trio, Hansi Flick, Julian Nagelsmann, and Thomas Tuchel, who are particularly favorites of President Laporta.

It is noteworthy that it is expected that at least the identity of the new coach will be decided during the international break in March.

It is noteworthy that Enrique coached Barcelona from 2015 to 2017, and during that period he achieved many achievements, most notably the historic treble.
