The curtain has been drawn on Barcelona’s biggest crisis in recent months, regarding the registration of the duo Juan Garcia and Marcus Rashford, the Catalan club’s latest signings.
The Catalan club finally and officially succeeded in registering the duo on its La Liga roster hours before the start of the match against Real Mallorca at San Moix Stadium.
The registration of Juan Garcia was the easiest for Barcelona, as La Liga approved him to replace Ter Stegen, following a medical report confirming that the German would need more than five months to recover from his injury.
In the past few hours, Joan Laporta’s administration intensified its efforts to register Rashford, and ultimately succeeded after the board of directors provided a personal guarantee to La Liga of €7 million.
La Liga’s official website added the players to Barcelona’s roster, officially confirming the news and bringing this crisis to a complete end until the summer of 2026.
In the coming days, Barcelona’s management will work to reach a 1:1 economic formula, which will enable them to sign and register players more smoothly in the future, specifically starting next January.
Garcia is expected to start against Mallorca, with Iñaki Peña as his replacement, given Barça’s inability to sign Szczesny with his new contract.
As for Rashford, the matter is entirely in the hands of coach Hansi Flick. If he is absent, it will be a technical, not an administrative, decision.
