Galatasaray reached an agreement with Napoli to sign Victor Osimhen this summer. The agreement includes a clause that may seem strange, but it protects the Italian club’s sporting rights in the near future.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Osimhen will sign a three-year contract with Galatasaray. This contract stipulates that the Nigerian player will not join any Italian club for the next two years.
Meanwhile, Osimhen’s transfer to the Turkish club Galatasaray will cost €75 million, making it the largest and most lucrative sports deal in Turkish history.
Galatasaray will pay €40 million immediately to Napoli, another €35 million next year, and €5 million in bonuses depending on how many goals Osimhen scores for the Turkish giants.
At the same time, the contract stipulates that Napoli will receive a 10% share of any future sale of Osimhen to any club.
Osimhen was one of Juventus’ top targets this summer, but the Old Lady refused to pay Napoli’s €75 million release clause and opted for other options.
Osimhen was on the radar of almost all of the top Serie A clubs, prompting Napoli’s management to try to keep him out of the Italian league as much as possible to prevent any other club from benefiting from his services, which would have affected the competition.
