Real Madrid’s new manager, Jose Mourinho, has firmly rejected the idea of parting ways with Aurelien Tchouameni. The Portuguese tactician has explicitly informed club president Florentino Perez that the French midfielder is “untouchable” during the ongoing summer transfer window.
Tchouameni’s name had been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United, as the Red Devils search for a new world-class midfielder. Securing the Real Madrid star had reportedly become a major “dream” target for United’s manager, Michael Carrick.
The Financial Offer and Mourinho’s Intervention
Initial reports suggested that Perez might allow Tchouameni to leave this summer on the condition of receiving a massive financial offer of around €80 million—a fee that Manchester United was already prepared to pay.
However, according to The Sun, Mourinho personally intervened to block the transfer. The “Special One” assured Perez that he fully intends to rely on Tchouameni next season, making a sale completely out of the question. For his part, Tchouameni is happy to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu, provided he receives reassurances from Mourinho regarding consistent playing time, which the manager seems ready to guarantee.
Camavinga on the Move as Real Madrid Eyes Replacement
Instead of sacrificing Tchouameni, Mourinho is reportedly open to the departure of Eduardo Camavinga. The younger Frenchman suffered a sharp decline in form last season and has lost almost all backing, even among the Los Blancos board.
Despite keeping Tchouameni, Real Madrid is still planning to recruit an additional midfielder. Reports confirm that Mourinho has requested the signing of West Ham’s Matheus Fernandes, a deal that could be comfortably funded by the potential sale of Camavinga.
