Lionel Messi has reached an agreement with Inter Miami to renew his long-term contract with the American club.
The Flea’s contract expires at the end of the current season in the United States, and Miami’s management has been concerned that he might decide to move to another club or retire altogether.
Messi received significant offers from the Saudi League, and his father reportedly met with Al-Hilal officials last June. However, the 37-year-old ultimately chose to remain with Inter Miami.
According to ESPN, Messi will sign his new contract with Inter Miami within the next two weeks. The length of the contract has not been disclosed, but it is certain to extend beyond the 2026 World Cup.
In principle, the new contract is expected to be between two and three years, with Messi having the option to terminate in 2027.
Messi joined Inter Miami on a free transfer in the summer of 2023 and has since made 75 appearances in all competitions, scoring 62 goals and providing 30 assists. He led the club to its first-ever title, the Copa del Rey, two years ago.
