Carlos Tevez is planning an extraordinary testimonial match at La Bombonera next December, which could feature Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo sharing the pitch in the same team for the first time.
Tevez reached an agreement with his former teammate and current Boca Juniors president, Juan Román Riquelme, to host the event at the club’s iconic stadium. The exact date remains under evaluation, with options narrowed down to the weekends of December 12–13 or December 19–20.
Messi and Ronaldo Among the Invites
The proposed format involves a team featuring Tevez’s friends and childhood neighbors taking on a side composed of star teammates from his professional career, with approximately 60 footballing figures expected to attend.
“El Apache” plans to invite Messi, his longtime international teammate with Argentina, alongside Ronaldo, his former attack partner at Manchester United. However, neither player’s participation has been officially confirmed.
The last time Messi and Ronaldo shared a pitch was on January 19, 2023, when Paris Saint-Germain defeated the Riyadh Season XI 5–4. On that occasion, the Argentine found the net once, while the Portuguese star scored twice to earn Man of the Match honors.
Tevez’s Journey From Boca to European Glory
Tevez left a massive legacy at Boca Juniors across three distinct spells, scoring 94 goals in 279 appearances and lifting 11 trophies before announcing his retirement in June 2022 at the age of 38.
