Mbappé Breaks Cristiano Ronaldo’s Champions League Record

Kylian Mbappé has etched his name in Champions League history, breaking a record previously held by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Mbappé scored a header in the first half of Real Madrid’s match against Benfica, and added a second goal in the second half of the final group stage match of the 2016 Champions League.

With this brace, the French star reached 13 Champions League goals this season, surpassing Ronaldo’s record for most goals in the group stage (in its old or new format).

The Portuguese star scored 11 goals for Real Madrid in the 2015-2016 group stage.

Mbappé scored two goals against Marseille, three against Kairat Almaty, four against Olympiacos, two against Monaco, and two against Benfica. He missed the match against Manchester City due to injury.

Mbappe could break another legendary Ronaldo record, as the player with the most goals in a single edition (17 goals), and now the 26-year-old is just 4 goals away from this achievement.
