Manchester United have no intention of opening negotiations regarding the future of club captain Bruno Fernandes, despite his name resurfacing in transfer market speculation following interest from top European clubs.
The Premier League side remains determined to keep the Portuguese midfielder at the core of their project. Talks between the club’s hierarchy and the player’s representatives over a new contract are ongoing, following an initial extension proposal submitted by United in May.
Turkish giants Galatasaray have already taken concrete steps to explore the feasibility of a deal, preparing an offer in the region of €50 million alongside a lucrative four-year contract. However, no official bid has been submitted to Manchester United to date.
Should a formal proposal arrive, Manchester United sources confirm it will be rejected immediately. The club views Fernandes as completely unsellable at any price, especially as the £65 million release clause in his contract has expired, granting United total control over his future.
Fernandes has not informed the board of any desire to leave Old Trafford, nor are there any indications that he intends to force a departure, despite inquiries from Galatasaray and other European suitors throughout June and July.
Last year, the playmaker turned down a massive offer from Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal worth roughly £100 million for the club, alongside a salary package nearly triple his current £250,000-a-week wages. Following consultations with his family and manager Rúben Amorim, Fernandes opted to remain in Europe to compete at the highest level.
Since joining Manchester United from Sporting CP in January 2020, Fernandes has registered 100 goals and 87 assists in nearly 300 appearances. During the 2025–2026 season, he produced an extraordinary Premier League campaign, recording 9 goals and 21 assists in 35 matches to break the single-season Premier League assist record.
