Unless something catastrophic happens, Arne Slott will remain as Liverpool manager until the end of the current season, according to The Athletic.
Sloot’s future has been the subject of much speculation following Liverpool’s poor run of form since last November, but the Reds’ board has stood by him and appears determined to continue doing so.
The latest report confirms that Liverpool’s management will continue to support Slott, and there is no intention of sacking him mid-season. Whether the Dutchman will remain beyond June will be discussed next summer.
Liverpool’s management does not want to follow in the footsteps of Chelsea and Manchester United by sacking a manager mid-season, believing that this is not the right solution to the current crisis. They prefer stability and will support the 47-year-old until further notice.
The only scenario in which Slott could be sacked this season would be a series of setbacks or a sharp decline in results that jeopardizes Liverpool’s chances of qualifying for the Champions League next season.
Xabi Alonso remains the name most likely to take over as Liverpool coach starting next July, and several reports have indicated that negotiations are already underway with the former Real Madrid coach and are progressing very positively.
