Liverpool has made its final decision regarding the future of manager Arne Slot and whether the club will dismiss him at the end of this season or if the Dutchman will remain in his position for another season.
Liverpool’s season has been disappointing by all accounts, with the Reds exiting the Premier League title race early, ultimately confirming that the season will be trophyless.
Liverpool Reaffirms Confidence in Slot
According to the latest reports from Sky Sports, Arne Slot will remain as Liverpool manager and will not leave at the end of this season, regardless of the results in the remaining seven matches.
There have been few discussions within the Liverpool board regarding Slot’s future, as the manager enjoys the full confidence of the owners and the sporting management, and there is a belief that he deserves to stay longer at Anfield.
While it’s true that the current season hasn’t lived up to expectations, the management attributes this to several factors, most notably the various injuries that plagued the team and the failure to build the squad as they envisioned last summer. This ultimately led to a state of disarray, resulting in the negative outcomes.
Regarding the rumors circulating about negotiations with Xabi Alonso and a near-agreement on all details, these are merely baseless rumors. No official from within Liverpool has contacted the coach, who was dismissed from Real Madrid last January.

Slot’s first task: Finding Mohamed Salah’s successor
The English network also revealed that Liverpool’s management has indeed tasked Slot with finding a successor to Mohamed Salah on the right wing, confirming the 2024-25 Premier League champions’ continued tenure.
Liverpool is seeking to sign a young player with skillful attributes and goal-scoring ability to replace Salah, who announced his departure and early termination of his contract with Liverpool next summer.
It’s worth noting that Salah’s departure also confirms Slot’s continued presence at Liverpool. The relationship between the two has been strained since last November, and had the “Egyptian King” known the manager was leaving, he would have stayed until the summer of 2027.
Slot’s Journey with Liverpool So Far
Slot was appointed Liverpool manager in the summer of 2024, succeeding Jürgen Klopp, after leading Feyenoord to the Dutch league title. This impressive performance attracted interest from several European clubs, most notably Tottenham Hotspur, who made multiple attempts to sign him, though these efforts ultimately fell through.
In his first season, Slot guided Liverpool to the Premier League title and the Carabao Cup final, but they were eliminated early from both the Champions League and the FA Cup.
Overall, the 47-year-old Slot has officiated 108 matches for the current Liverpool team, winning 65, losing 27 and drawing 16. The Reds have scored 218 goals and conceded 130 under his watch.
