Laporta Announces: The 2025 Mercato is Over for Barcelona!

Barcelona President Joan Laporta announced that the Catalan club does not plan to make any new signings during the remaining summer transfer window, but he did not rule out the departure of some players to balance the financial budget.

Barcelona signed Joan Garcia from Espanyol for €25 million, along with the Swede of Syrian origin, Ronnie Bardaghi, from FC Copenhagen. The Blaugrana’s most recent summer signing was Marcus Rashford on loan from Manchester United.

Laporta spoke to Mundo Deportivo about Barcelona’s other expected moves during the transfer window, saying, “What we have to do now is reduce the payroll. It’s unlikely we’ll make any other signings at the moment. The main plan is to integrate young players into the first team.”

He added, “Pablo Torre’s departure is another step in our approach to salaries, and there are other players in negotiations as well. I want to reassure fans that we will not make any major sales, as this step would negatively impact team spirit.”

He continued, “Our goal this summer was to maintain the core of last season, as it was a historic season. We wanted to keep the players and their high spirits, and we rejected many offers to sell a number of stars.”

He concluded, “Flick asked us to strengthen the attack, and we signed Rashford. Deco had a clear vision of what might happen with Ter Stegen, which led us to sign Juan Garcia. We also have high hopes for Bardighi, and with these stars, we have met the most important goals of the transfer window.”

It is worth noting that the Catalan media had previously reported Flick’s desire to sign a new full-back who can play on both the right and left, but this is now unlikely due to the dire economic situation at Camp Nou.
