This marks the first time in Tunisia’s football history that the national team has conceded five goals in two consecutive matches, following a heavy 5-0 friendly defeat against Belgium last week. It appears Lamouchi’s squad failed to learn from that recent wake-up call.

Speaking to the media after the match, the veteran tactician said:

“Individual quality decided the match. We made individual mistakes, and the Swedish players exploited them perfectly to score their goals.”

Lamouchi added, reflecting on the match’s turning points: “We managed to fight our way back into the game and reduce the deficit before the end of the first half (2-1). We actually started the second half quite well, but we simply couldn’t capitalize on that momentum.”

He continued: “We paid a hefty price for our defensive lapses. We are at the World Cup, and the World Cup is absolutely ruthless.”

Concluding his remarks, the head coach looked forward: “We must minimize errors and eliminate our tactical fragility in the upcoming two matches. There needs to be solid cohesion between all three lines—something we completely lacked today. Ultimately, Sweden was the better team.”
