Turkish Super Lig outfit Konyaspor remains determined to secure the signature of Egyptian midfielder Emam Ashour from Al Ahly, despite initial negotiations hitting a standstill.
According to Turkish media reports, Konyaspor is ready to submit a revised offer of $7.5 million after Al Ahly rejected their previous bid of $4.25 million. The Cairo giants have set an asking price of $8 million for the 26-year-old international, whose current contract runs through the summer of 2028.
While both Al Ahly and Ashour have expressed a mutual desire to continue their partnership, renewal talks have stalled due to financial disagreements.
Al Ahly has proposed a new contract featuring a basic annual salary of 30 million Egyptian pounds, plus an additional 15 million EGP in performance-related bonuses. However, Konyaspor’s potential offer includes a wage packet more than double what Al Ahly is currently offering.
Al Ahly recently issued an official statement reiterating that key squad members are not for sale, signaling a firm stance against suitors.
The transfer rumors come as Al Ahly prepares for a high-profile friendly against FC Barcelona at the Camp Nou for the Joan Gamper Trophy on Wednesday, August 19. Following their trip to Spain, the Red Devils will kick off their Egyptian Premier League campaign against Sharqia Enppi on Sunday, August 23.
