Klopp insists: I’m not interested in coaching Real Madrid

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed he is not interested in coaching Real Madrid, stating that he regrets the decision to sack Xabi Alonso from the club.

Spanish media outlets have unanimously reported that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez dreams of bringing the German coach to lead Los Blancos next season.

Klopp currently serves as the head of global football at Red Bull, where he oversees several clubs, most notably RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg.

When asked about Alonso’s dismissal from Real Madrid and whether it might mean a return to coaching, Klopp responded firmly, saying, “This has absolutely nothing to do with me, and it hasn’t affected me in any way.”

He added, “The coaching market is undergoing radical changes, and the truth is, it’s not bad to observe the situation objectively and not think about how it might affect you personally. I’m already in the right place.”

Regarding Alonso, he said, “What happened proves that things aren’t entirely right. Alonso is an exceptional coaching talent, but his task wasn’t easy as the successor to the legendary Ancelotti, who had a distinctive coaching style.”

He concluded, “I truly feel sorry for Alonso because he’s a great coach by all accounts.”

Klopp has repeatedly confirmed that he doesn’t intend to return to coaching anytime soon after exhausting himself over 25 years with Mainz, Borussia Dortmund, and Liverpool. Now, he reiterates that he won’t return for Real Madrid.

Álvaro Arbeloa has been appointed to temporarily replace Alonso as manager of Los Blancos until the end of the season. His future with the first team will depend on his performance in the coming period, while Enzo Maresca’s name has been mentioned as a possible replacement should the need arise.
