Juventus secures its first Champions League win, while Dortmund crushes Villarreal

Juventus finally broke its streak of draws and defeats in the Champions League this season, recording its first victory in the competition with a hard-fought and thrilling 3-2 win over hosts Bodø/Glimt.

This valuable win, in the fifth round of the league stage, ended a run of four matches in which the “Old Lady” had failed to secure a victory.

Things didn’t go as planned for the Italian team at the outset, as Ole Diederik Blomberg stunned the home side with an early goal in the 27th minute. However, Juventus came back strongly in the second half, scoring two quick goals through Luis Openda in the 48th minute, followed by Weston McKennie’s goal in the 56th minute, turning the game around and putting Juve in control.

The real drama awaited the final minutes. Just as Juventus were preparing to secure the three points, the referee awarded a penalty to the Norwegian team three minutes before the final whistle. Sunder Wit successfully converted the penalty to level the score at 2-2 in the 87th minute, threatening to turn Juventus’s anticipated victory into another disappointing draw.

However, the decisive factor was Jonathan David, who pounced on the ball and scored the dramatic winning goal in the first minute of stoppage time.

This goal snatched all three points, lifting Juventus to five points and 21st place, while Bodø/Glimt remained on two points in 31st.

Meanwhile, at Signal Iduna Park, Borussia Dortmund crushed Villarreal 4-0.

A brace from Serhou Guirassy, another goal from Karim Adeyemi, and the final goal from Fabio Silva, in a match where Villarreal played with ten men from the 53rd minute after defender Juan Foyth was sent off.

The big win lifted Dortmund to 10 points in fourth place in the standings, while Villarreal’s tally remained at one point in 34th place.
