The agent of German manager Jurgen Klopp has officially ruled out the possibility of the coach taking over at Al-Ittihad next season. This statement puts an end to a wave of rumors that had suggested advanced negotiations between the former Liverpool boss and the Saudi club.
Recently, Al-Ittihad fans launched an intensive campaign on social media (X) calling for Klopp to replace the Portuguese manager Sérgio Conceição, whose dismissal is reportedly only a matter of time.
The “Red Bull” Rumor and the Agent’s Rebuttal
A rumor had spread rapidly claiming that Klopp had agreed to the role on the condition that he starts in October, allowing him time to conclude his current commitments with Red Bull, where he serves as the Head of Global Soccer. However, Klopp’s agent was blunt in his response:
“No, it is impossible for Klopp to manage Al-Ittihad this year. These rumors are completely false.”
Reality Check: Financial Barriers and Alternative Targets
Journalist Ben Jacobs, citing sources within the Saudi club, confirmed that Al-Ittihad was never in advanced talks with Klopp. While the board dreams of such a high-profile signing, they acknowledge it is nearly impossible this summer due to the lack of extraordinary financial backing required for such a deal.
Al-Ittihad is now reportedly exploring other elite options, including Stuttgart manager Sebastian Hoeneß, who is currently under contract with the German club until 2028.
