Zamalek secured a crucial 1-0 victory over Zesco United in their opening match of the 2025-26 CAF Confederation Cup group stage.
The White Knights’ lone goal came in the 43rd minute from Seifeddine Jaziri, whose shot from outside the penalty area deceived the Zambian goalkeeper and found the back of the net.

Zesco nearly equalized in the second half with several clear-cut chances, but Zamalek goalkeeper Mohamed Awad made some excellent saves.
Zamalek suffered a setback in the second half when Nabil Emad Dunga sustained a knee injury and was taken to a hospital for medical examinations.
Mahmoud Jihad returned to the starting lineup after a long absence, but was quickly substituted after just 10 minutes due to a tactical decision, as he appeared unsettled on the pitch.
This win was vital for Zamalek, as it puts them joint top of the group with Al Masry, both teams having 3 points.
Zamalek will travel to South Africa within hours to prepare for their match against Kaizer Chiefs, which will be very complicated and difficult next Friday.
