The announcement of Cristiano Ronaldo’s renewal with Al-Nassr is only a matter of time, after the two parties reached an agreement on all the details over the past few days.
There has been considerable controversy surrounding the future of the Don, especially after Al-Nassr failed to win any titles last season, in addition to missing out on the AFC Champions League next season.
Ultimately, Ronaldo chose to continue with Al-Alamy, but he set a condition that did not relate to concluding new deals, hiring a coach, or carrying out an administrative revolution.
According to journalist Nicolo Schira, Ronaldo’s important condition for renewing was that the Al-Nassr management accept the new contract for only one year.
Previously, it was reported that Al-Nassr wanted Ronaldo to stay for two years with the option to extend for another year. However, the 40-year-old Ronaldo insisted in recent negotiations that the renewal be for a single year.
The reason behind this is Ronaldo’s desire to assess his physical and mental state after the upcoming season and the 2026 World Cup, after which he will decide whether to continue in football or retire permanently.
The Al-Nassr management agreed to and respected Ronaldo’s wishes, especially given the strong relationship between the two parties. It is unlikely that there will be a crisis in the renewal negotiations if he decides to continue for another year after 2026.
Ronaldo is currently aiming to reach his 1,000th career goal, and his biggest dream remains winning the 2026 World Cup with the Portuguese national team. If he does, he may retire after that, even if his physical condition is good.
